North Texas Infectious Diseases Consultants Infectious Disease Research Department Is One Of The Leading Clinical Trial Sites In The United States.

North Texas Infectious Diseases Consultants (NTIDC) research department was developed in 2001 by Dr. Louis Sloan and Bryan King to provide access to the latest cutting-edge treatments for our patients. We have conducted 100’s of clinical trials that helped bring some of the latest treatments to market.

Our dedicated research staff is comprised of some of the most well-respected Principle Investigators, Sub-Investigators, Research Nurses, Research Coordinators, Investigational Pharmacists, and Technicians in the United States.

Our staff is comprised of highly trained and certified individuals with over 20 years of experience and 100’s of completed studies. All staff are GCP trained and specialty trained in Infectious Diseases. We are committed to providing our community with the latest infectious diseases research and treatment options, and to treating each of our patients with the dignity, compassion and respect.

Bryan King, LVN, CCRC

Bryan King joined North Texas Infectious Diseases Consultants in 2001 as the Director of the Research Department which he helped develop with Dr. Louis Sloan. Bryan has helped to expand the Research Department to a multi-phase respected site conducting multiple studies that continue the fight against HIV and other infectious diseases. He has established excellent ongoing relationships with sponsoring Pharmaceutical companies, giving patients access to new and improved treatments. Bryan graduated from nursing school in North Little Rock, Arkansas in 1989 and then moved to Dallas to help fight AIDS as a HIV Nurse. He is a member of the Association of Clinical Research Professionals and certified as a Clinical Research Coordinator.

Principle Investigators

Mezgebe Berhe, MD, MPH

Mezgebe Berhe, MD, MPH

Dr. Berhe joined North Texas Infectious Diseases Consultants (NTIDC) in 2005 after completing his ID fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University in Virginia and his Internal Medicine residency at St. Barnabas Hospital affiliated with Cornell Medical Center in New York City. He also holds a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology.

Since joining North Texas Infectious Diseases Consultants (NTIDC) in 2005, Dr Berhe has been an integral member of the North Texas Infectious Diseases Consultants (NTIDC) Research department, serving as a Principle Investigator and Sub-investigator for numerous clinical trials for infectious diseases, including HIV, C-Diff, antibiotics, Hepatitis C , and new vaccines. He has participated in more than 80 clinical trials and has helped the research department achieve it reputation for the high standers of data collection, GCP and exceptional patient care. He is married with three children, and enjoys espresso while watching Arsenal FC Soccer and Seinfeld.

Christopher J. Bettacchi, MD

Christopher J. Bettacchi, MD

Dr. Bettacchi joined North Texas Infectious Diseases Consultants in 2010 after completing his Infectious Diseases fellowship at the UAB Medical Center in Alabama. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in Indiana and completed his medical school training at St. George’s University in New York.

In 2011 Dr. Bettacchi started participating in the research program at North Texas Infectious Diseases Consultants (NTIDC) as a sub-investigator, and in 2016 he became a more valuable member of our research team as a Principle Investigator. He continues to help North Texas Infectious Diseases Consultants (NTIDC) make an impact to the research community by contributing to the data of so many lifesaving medications that have come to market. He has participated in more the 50 clinical trials for HIV, antibiotics, vaccines and other infectious disease medications. Dr. Bettacchi is married with 2 children, and enjoys running and biking at White Rock Lake!

Uriel Sandkovsky, MD, MS, FIDSA

Uriel Sandkovsky, MD, MS, FIDSA

Dr. Sandkovsky joined North Texas Infectious Diseases Consultants in 2018. He completed his Infectious Diseases Training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He then served as Associate Professor of Medicine/Infectious Diseases and Medical Director of Occupational Health, at University of Nebraska Medical Center 2009-2018. Dr. Sandkovsky completed medical school in Argentina in 1999 and trained in Internal Medicine at Hospital Pirovano in Buenos Aires. He also completed Internal Medicine training at St Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York. Dr. Sandkovsky holds a Master of Science from UNMC in Clinical and Translational Research.

Dr. Sandkovsky has extensive experience in the care and management of immunocompromised patients including solid organ transplant patients, patients with HIV and patients with advanced cardiac device infections. He has served as primary and sub investigator in clinical trials. Dr. Sandkovsky is married with 2 children. He loves spending time with his family, playing tennis and soccer, and enjoys cooking Argentinian food.

    Refill requests require at least 72 hours for approval. Please monitor your pill bottles and contact the pharmacy at least 5 days prior to running out of your medication. Please note that prescription refill authorizations are dependent upon you maintaining the recommended follow-up appointments with your provider.
