Mezgebe Berhe, MD, MPHInfectious Diseases Consultant
Dr. Berhe joined North Texas Infectious Diseases Consultants in August 2005 after completing his Infectious Disease fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia and his Internal Medicine residency at St. Barnabas Hospital affiliated with Cornell Medical Center in New York City. Also, he holds a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology. Dr. Berhe has extensive training and experience in tropical medicine, HIV medicine, orthopedic infections and transplant infections.
Since joining NTIDC in 2005, he has been an integral member of the NTIDC Research department, serving as a Principle Investigator and Sub-investigator for numerous clinical trials for infectious diseases, including HIV and Clostridium difficile colitis.
Dr. Berhe enjoys participating in medical education, actively teaching medical students, residents and fellows as a faculty member at Baylor University Medical Center and as an Assistant Professor of Medicine with Texas A & M University. Additionally, Dr. Berhe is currently the acting Program Director for the Infectious Disease Fellowship Program at Baylor University Medical Center.
Passionate about his leadership roles, Dr. Berhe is involved in multiple committees at Baylor University Medical Center, including Chair of the Antimicrobial Committee, Neutropenic Fever Committee and the Quality Care Committee. He also sits on multiple advisory boards.
Dr. Berhe has been listed among the best doctors in Dallas by D Magazine for many years.
He is married with three children, and enjoys espresso while watching Arsenal FC Soccer and Seinfeld.
