PrEP is a pill taken daily and should be used in combination with other prevention methods such as using a condom for even greater protection than when used alone. When taken consistently, PrEP has been shown to reduce the risk of HIV infection by up to 92%.
PeP means taking antiretroviral medications (ART) after potentially being exposed to HIV to prevent becoming infected with HIV. PeP must be used within 72 hours after a recent possible exposure to HIV.
